RECYCLING OF PVC: WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT?

The recycling is an important element for the protection of the environment, especially for what it concerns the recycling of PVC.

According to data coming from a summary document of Gruppo Serramenti e Avvolgenti di PVC Forum Italia, the quantity of the recycling of PVC from 2007 to 2016 have quadrupled.

Indeed, 568 tonnes of the 45% of PVC recycled derives from doors and windows.

According to these data and analysis, the volumes are increasing and it seems that they will continue.

PVC RECYCLING: HOW IS IT DONE?

How is it done the recycling of PVC from doors and windows? These objects are picked up and deconstructed: the structure is selected, cleaned, shredded, minced, powdered and sifted, finally the dust is combined with virgin resin and additives used for the manufacturing of a new useful compound for the production of new PVC profiles.

Thanks to the homogeneity of the compound obtained from the recycling process, it is used for the manufacturing of new doors and windows.

Actually PVC can be recycled up to 7 times, always keeping the quality of the original state.

THE RECYCLING OF PVC DOORS AND WINDOWS

The recycling of PVC from doors and windows is implemented in different ways based on the phase of the product’s life cycle.

First of all, the production waste is recycled directly during the manufacturing process of the extrusion of the profile and during the assembling of the profiles, from the cutting to the welding phase, where the shrinkage is collected and re-used.

In the same circuit there is the waste produced during the phase of the siting, deriving from the adaptation to the complementary profiles.

The old doors and windows can be collected, deconstructed into various materials (PVC, glass, metal reinforcements, metal-ware) and sent to the their respective recycling circuit.

For the frame, the process consists in the collection, the selection and the cleaning of rigid PVC, then it goes under the mincing, the grounding, the powdering and the sifting operations.

The powder obtained is mixed with virgin resin and additives and turned again into a compound, ready to be extruded into new profiles.

GPlast is specialized in the regeneration of PVC plastic material: we use recycled plastic and we transform the PVC granules for different uses, so we protect the environment from the plastic pollution and offering high quality products that is employed for the tubes manufacturing into ducts and in various profiles used in the construction and industrial sectors.
